Dorene is one of our new master’s in social work student interns from Howard University. Dorene is passionate about guiding individuals as they navigate difficult challenges, ease emotional burdens, and engage in self-expression and reflection. She is intentional about creating a space where individuals can be their authentic selves in order to embark on a meaningful journey of healing and growth. Dorene ensures that every person is met with respect, compassion, and support.
Dorene desires to work with adolescents (ages 12-19) as well as those in their roaring 20s, as she knows that the twenties age range can be a difficult time to navigate through. She is also passionate about assisting young adults that are struggling in relationships, whether romantic or platonic, and desires to work with young women struggling with low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. She also desires to work with couples and those who feel stagnant or even lost in their journey of life. Using the strength-based approach, she seeks to empower, be of support to clients to grow beyond old patterns, and help each client develop a deeper sense of self. With Dorene having a strong faith in God and as she is also pursuing her master’s in divinity, she welcomes those who desire to incorporate aspects of spirituality into the therapeutic process.
